After swift Police action…

Eight to face Court for Farm $10.5M robbery
COMMANDER of Police ‘A’ Division, Assistant Commissioner George Vyphuis said, yesterday, that the eight suspects in custody are expected to appear in court next week, following investigations into the brazen daylight Guyana Stockfeeds Ltd robbery at Farm, East Bank Demerara, last Thursday.
He said the booty, weapons and the getaway motor car have all been recovered as a result of swift Police action.
Meanwhile, in a statement on the heist, the Police said it occurred about 13:15 hrs, when six men, two of whom were armed with shotguns and the others with handguns, entered the business premises and held the private security guard who was on duty, Loraine Adams at gunpoint and took away her .38 ‘Taurus’ revolver with six live rounds.
The robbers carried her inside the building, doing the same to accounts clerk Seepaul Khaloo and seven other employees, before grabbing six deposit bags, containing a total of $10,582,600 intended to be taken to a commercial bank.
They also robbed the staff of personal cash, cell phones and other valuables and escaped in a waiting motor car.
Police anti-crime patrols were alerted through the radio network and roadblocks were established at strategic locations.
Quick response by the Police, acting on information received, subsequently, led to the arrest of four suspects, at Diamond Sea Dam area, in whose possession was found a sum of money, suspected to be part of what was stolen.
Further investigations resulted in the arrest of a woman, at Grove Housing Scheme, also on East Bank Demerara, whose motor vehicle, PMM 5295, has also been detained and two other men at Grove Housing Scheme, the Police said.
The Police, after maintaining dominance of the area, they, later, retrieved more money in a yard at Cinema Street, where they held two other men found hiding among some bush in a swampy area, at Diamond, too.
The motor car suspected to have been used for the getaway, PMM 9668, was found abandoned on the roadway at School Street, Diamond Housing Scheme, with a 12-gauge pump action shotgun, four matching cartridges and a laptop computer in it.
