Preparations underway for first Region Two cultural fest

THE Ethnic Relations Commission (ERC), in collaboration with the Regional Administration, is making preparations for hosting the first ever cultural fest in Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam) on Sunday. A team of persons is working to ensure that the event, starting at 13:00 hrs, will be successful.
At a special meeting on Wednesday, in the Regional Boardroom, it was disclosed that the culturally rich programme will feature dances, skits, poems and folk songs, in Anna Regina Multilateral School (ARMS) on Essequibo Coast.
Students from there, Charity, Eighth of May and Abram Zuil Secondary schools, together with primary school pupils from Mainstay, Charity and Lima Sands will be performing on stage to show off their talents, depicting the various religious cultures of the country.
The Essequibo Coast Praant of the Dharmic Sabha will also take part and occupy a booth to showcase their religion and display the different clothing traditionally worn in the Indian community.
The Henrietta African group is also expected to make presentations to highlight their culture, as will the Christian and Muslim religions.
Other activities will include sports, exhibition of foods and impromptu speech and thousands are expected to attend.
