Guyanese, Surinamese busted at Corentyne roadblock remanded

TWO men, a Guyanese and a Surinamese, have been charged with drug trafficking following a police bust on Springlands Public Road, Corentyne. Errol Archibald Bristol, 44, of Lot 44 Savannah Park, New Amsterdam, also in Berbice and Dennis Martodikromo, of Nickehri, Suriname, are facing charges of having trafficked cocaine and cannabis (marijuana) last March 23.

Jointly accused of possession of one kilogramme cocaine and 240 grammes of marijuana for the purpose, the duo appeared before Magistrate Krishendat Persaud at Springlands Court yesterday.
They were refused bail and remanded to the New Amsterdam Prison until April 8.
Police said, the prisoners on remand had hired a taxi from New Amsterdam and it was intercepted at a roadblock where they claimed ownership of a bag that contained the prohibited substances.
