Investigate the Chief Executive ‘Thieves’

THERE was a story published in the press (GC  15/03/11) where a former employee of National Milling Company (NAMILCO) had extorted $100,000 per week, a motor car and other ‘gifts’ from a customer.
Corruption and extortion from the public and the embezzlement of companies’ monies seem to have become a norm in the business life of the world. These sins seem to occur mostly in businesses which are monopolies or businesses which supply essential goods and services.

The government and public-spirited citizens like Mr. Ram and NGOs need to keep such employees and business executives in focus. One or two of these companies are known to try to scare citizens who are investigating or who know of the underhand dealings of some Chief Executive Officers by baselessly threatening these citizens with legal action. If any of these guilty Chief Executive “Thieves” attempt to bring legal action on citizens defending the interest of the public and the nation, full-scale, no-holes-barred enquiries must be carried out by government and citizens of decency and honesty. If these Chief Executive “Thieves” are found guilty, they should be jailed in keeping with President Jagdeo’s pledge to clean up such corruption.
