Taxi driver arrested, unlicensed 9mm pistol recovered
AT about 12:50 hrs on Sunday,  the police arrested a taxi driver and during a subsequent search of his premises at Ketley Street, Charlestown, found an unlicensed 9mm. pistol and three matching rounds.


The police, in a statement, said they were at the time following up with investigations into an armed robbery that occurred earlier in the day, at about 05:15 hrs, at Durban Backlands in  Georgetown, during which Clarence Foster was attacked and robbed of his jewellery by two men, one of whom was armed with a firearm.

The taxi driver is in police custody and charges will be made shortly.
