POLICE are investigating a report that, about 18:35 hrs on Tuesday, an inspector attached to the Tactical Services Unit (TSU), whose services were unlawfully secured by a businessman, shot and wounded a former employee of the latter. The injured man, Yadram Rooney, 30, of Broad and Ketley Streets, Charlestown, Georgetown, was accused of having embezzled a sum of money from his ex-employer.
Rooney was located at Number Two Village, East Canje, by the inspector who was attired in plain clothes, but injured in the left arm pit during efforts to arrest him after he is alleged to have attacked the arresting cop.
Rooney was admitted to New Amsterdam Hospital, also in Berbice, where he remains a patient and the inspector is under close arrest as the investigations continue.
