Greaves maintains winning ways in R&R Post-Mashramani Cycling

RORAIMA Bikers Club’s (RBC) Alonso Greaves maintained his winning ways yesterday, when he took the Schoolboys and Invitational 35-lap race around the inner circuit of the National Park in the 20th R&R International-sponsored Post-Mashramani 11-race cycle programme.
For the second time in three weeks, Greaves outsprinted the defending Geron Williams to take the top position ahead of Williams whose Continental Cycle Club (CCC) teammate Paul De Nobrega took the third position.

Alex Menez, also from CCC, Raymond ‘Steely’ Newton and Kurt La Rose completed the top six position, with Greaves, Williams and Newton carting off two sprint prizes while Menez and Eric Sankar shared the other two.
Earlier in the programme which was organised by national cycling coach Hassan Mohammed, Linden’s Jamal Arthur rode away with the BMX Boys 6-9 event from Rashidi Ceres, before Raymond Pires took the BMX Boys 10-12 race from Shaquille Campbell and Justin De Nobrega.
In the BMX Boys 12-14 category, Darius Ramsammy took the top position from Chemraj Sanichar and Earl Ramkumar, with Rawle Leal defeating Hazena Barrett and Shaquille Agard to take the BMX 12-14 Boys’ and Girls’ three-lap event, while Hamza Eastman took the BMX Open category with Julio Melville second.
In the Veterans Under-50 category, Kennard Lovell took the top podium finish from Andrew Phang and Virgil Jones finishing second and third respectively, with Lancelot Rose taking the Over-50 category from Courtney Thomas.
Monty Parris rode away with the Veterans Over-60 category from Maurice Fagundes and Anthony Fariah while the Anthony siblings Michael and Montel took the top two positions in the Juveniles 10-lap event, with Michael Anthony winning in time of 23mins 10secs, with Dellon Moore third.
Michael Anthony also took the two sprint prizes that were up for grabs during the race. At the completion of the programme, Henry Rambarran Jr assisted with the presentation of prizes on behalf of Jacob Rambarran, Managing Director of R&R who was pleased to be associated with the event.
The cyclists will take to the road today when they compete in a 40-mile event which is being sponsored by R&R International Limited, in which Greaves will be highly favoured to do the double, following his emphatic win two weeks ago on the same route.
