Sharief was a shining example of a decent, upright son of the soil

It is with great sadness that I learnt of the death of my dear friend Sharief Khan.
I got to know Sharief very well when he was studying journalism at Westminster University in London some years ago and he spent his weekends at our home.
He had a great sense of humour and a wry smile which spoke volumes.
What I admired most of all about him was his professionalism in his chosen career and his love for his family.

He came across as unbiased in all of his work through the years.
Sharief was one of the good guys of journalism in Guyana and would not and could not be bought.
He was a shining example of a decent, upright son of the soil.
To his mother and extended family, I offer my deepest sympathy.
May the soil of Guyana lie gently upon him.
