ANTHONY Charles (no address given) was remanded to prison, by Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday, on a robbery charge.
Particulars of the offence, to which he pleaded not guilty, said, on February 16, being in company of another, he robbed Michael Alfonso of a $25,000 cellular phone and $1,040 cash.
Police Corporal Venetta Pindar, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant was walking along Smyth Street, Georgetown, when the defendant and three other persons surrounded him and Charles relieved him of his belongings.
The prosecutor, successfully objected to bail for Charles, on the ground that he is not a first time offender and is presently facing trial for a similar crime.
Charles has to be back in Court on March 1.
