Marijuana smoker imprisoned for three years, fined

RAYMOND Rodney (no address given) was sentenced to three years imprisonment and fined $30,000 yesterday, for drug trafficking. Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton convicted him after he pleaded guilty to being in possession of 41 grammes cannabis (marijuana), for the purpose, on February 7.
Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, said police officers from Lethem Station went to the convict’s home, after receiving certain information and a search of the house yielded a white plastic bag containing leaves, seeds and stems of the prohibited cannabis (marijuana ) plant.
The prosecutor said the prisoner admitted that he smokes marijuana and confessed to doing so in court.
