Couple charged with abduction after repossession incident

A MAN and his reputed wife have been charged with abduction after what occurred when a Scotiabank agent went to repossess a motor vehicle earlier this week.
Earl Fredericks and Janet Johnson, of Lot ‘A’ 61 East La Penitence, appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton yesterday and pleaded not guilty.
Particulars of the offence said, on February 8, they wrongfully confined William Blackman, by preventing him from proceeding to his place of employment,  Bank of Nova Scotia, on Carmichael Street, in Georgetown, too.
Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, did not go into details about the case but said he did not have any  objection to bail and the defendants were ordered to post $60,000 surety each and return to court today.
Attorney-at-law Mr. Trenton Lake, who appeared for the couple, said they were not flight risks.
