Husband charged with causing wife’s death

After January 22 accident…
WALTER Denny, 30, of Lot 78 Castello Housing Scheme, West La Penitence, has been charged with causing the death of his wife, Beverly Alicia Denny, by dangerous driving.
He appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate, Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, yesterday and the indictable charge alleged that, last January 22, at Lance Gibbs and Oronoque Streets, also in Georgetown, the accused drove minibus BKK 643 in a manner dangerous to the public and caused the woman’s demise.
Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, said the accused was speeding when the vehicle he drove collided with a hire car after he failed to stop at the major road.
The prosecutor said after the collision between the car and the bus, the latter toppled and the severely injured woman, who had been in that vehicle, was pronounced dead on arrival at Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH).
Attorney-at-law, Mr. Adrian Thompson, who made a successful bail application on his behalf, said the accused suffered a fractured neck and is still in tremendous pain.
The lawyer said, due to his condition, Denny was released, from police custody, on his own recognisance and the court set surety at $150,000,
The case has been transferred to another court, for February 15.
