THANKS again Chronicle for a timely editorial. Mr. Trotman has finally recognised that it would be foolish and counter productive to deny that there has been some progress in Guyana. Two steps the opposition must take, one is to participate as fully as possible in the decision making process whenever possible and make strong, credible and constructive criticism whenever they disagree with a policy or handling of any given situation. Competition brings out the best outcomes, and that is also true for governments. The opposition not only failed their supporters and all voters when there is no organised group or credible individual capable of questioning the actions of the best governments. Participation breeds trust and may lead to some form of “power sharing” that some believe is the answer to Guyana’s problems. Hopefully, the sharing is not just for a few leaders but for the welfare of all.
A constructive opposition is needed
