200 not a figure to even qualify for a seat

THE AFC launched its campaign for the 2011 General Elections at the Ocean View Convention Centre on Saturday evening,January 29,  2011 “where about 200 persons had gathered for the event” according to the Stabroek News (Sunday January 30, 2011), one of the so-called independent newspapers that is presently promoting the AFC through its publications for the 2011 elections. But what a disgrace, only 200 persons attended the AFC’s Launching event which is not a figure to qualify for even a parliamentary seat despite all the “Fat Talk” it has for being “the next government”. What was even more disgraceful was that the AFC leadership did not produce its development plan at its launching event to show its members and supporters how it intends to further the development of Guyana.
At this launching event the AFC should have been very enthusiastic proudly showcasing and distributing to all its “Blue print of Government” and not to wait until the date of elections is announced which is a trick deliberately designed to fool or deceive the Guyanese people. This is also a clear message that the AFC is incompetent to produce a development plan before its launching event which was the appropriate time. This incompetence on the part of AFC is quite clear that it is incapable to manage the affairs of our country and will loose the upcoming general elections but still what is important for the Guyanese people is that every time the AFC open it big and boastful mouth is to demand from them their development plan which must be realistic and feasible with the necessary financial resources available for implementation. Why this is important is because political parties in the opposition at elections time promise the people the moon and the stars just to set their votes. The AFC is no different. So as responsible citizens of our country we need to question the AFC leaders and party activists on the feasibility of their national development plan as they run around the country begging for votes. This is so because the Guyanese people have to determine if the AFC’s National Development plan will contribute to the “Change” they loosely and boastfully brag about in an airy fairy way.
As an Amerindian, I am eager to know if the AFC has an Amerindian Development Plan, where can I get a copy of this document. Must I go to the Stabroek News? One Martin Cheong said in a letter in Kaieteur News (January 30, 2011) that “Amerindians are tired of empty promises” I want Martin Cheong to tell me what the AFC has done to improve the lives of Amerindians through the implementation of community development projects from 2006-2011. The answer is simply nothing. Did Martin Cheong ever tell the AFC’s leadership that as a parliamentary party in the opposition it was good to contribute to the development of Amerindian communities in some way? The answer is still yet quite irresponsibly that “Amerindians are tired of Empty promises” the AFC should be ashamed of doing absolutely nothing for Guyana’s Amerindians during its Parliamentary stewardship yet they want the Amerindians therefore is, DON NOT VOTE FOR AFC.
