Bel Air resident wins $1M from MoneyGram

– through its  ‘Be a Millionaire in the New Year’ promotion
Mr. Ronald McGarrell of Bel Air Springs, Greater Georgetown won the first prize of $1 million in the MoneyGram International Money
Transfer ‘Be a Millionaire in the New Year’ promotion at the final drawing held yesterday at Neal and Massy Staff facilities at
Ruimveldt.


McGarrell copped the first prize when his spin at the wheel stopped at the $1 million mark in a spin-off with seven other lucky
contestants who were shortlisted from thousands of entries.

Mr. Roy Sultan of Peters Hall, East Bank Demerara secured the second prize of $500,000 andMs. Michelle Barker of Best Road, West Coast Demerara won the third prize of $250,000.

Ms. Glenda Mc Pherson of Hopetown, West Berbice; Ms. Leila Khushmatie Prasad of Sussex Street; Mr. Stephen Leacock of Owen Street, Kitty;  Ms. Desiree Alleyne of Norton Street and Ms. Bonita Mitchell James of Rosa Drive, South Ruimveldt each took home consolation prizes of  $50,000.

Mr. Deo Persaud, Neal and Massy Group Chief Executive Officer congratulated the winners and thanked them for partnering with
MoneyGram.

“We can expect to see more smiling faces in 2011 as three promotions are planned for this year. Let us continue to build on the partnership and we can all become winners”, he told the audience.

Mr. McGarrell said that with MoneyGram it was an easy way to win $1 million.

Ms. Debbie Baldeo, MoneyGram Manager disclosed that the response to the promotion was overwhelming and she thanked customers for participating.

“Our ‘Be a Millionaire for the New Year’ promotion commenced on October 25th 2010 and concluded on January 9th, 2011 attracting
