Motorcyclist fled from Police breathalyzer test
MOTORCYCLIST Hussain Mujay refused to allow police to do a breathalyzer test on him and fled.
But he was forced to stop when he rode into a trench alongside Canefield Public Road, East Canje.

Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo heard of the episode on Monday when the defendant pleaded guilty to refusing the test, driving motorcycle CE 9671 in a manner dangerous to the public and resisting Constable Lynton Crandon, a police officer acting in the execution of his duties.
Mujay was fined a total of  $40,000 with the alternative of three months imprisonment.
Police Corporal Roberto Figueira, prosecuting in New Amsterdam Court, in Berbice, as well, said, on  January 15, Mujay was proceeding along Canefield Public Road when he was stopped by ranks on mobile patrol and asked to produce his documents.
The Prosecutor said Mujay refused to comply and his breath smelt of alcohol, but as the ranks attempted to arrest him, he resisted, ran a short distance to his motorcycle and rode away.
Figueira said, in his bid to escape, Mujay caused other road users to take evasive actions to prevent collisions, before he rode into the waterway and was apprehended.
He was arrested and taken to Central Police Station where he was requested to do the breathalyzer test but did not allow it to be done.
Asked, by the magistrate, why he rode away from the police, Mujay responded:”Your Worship, I am afraid of the lock-ups.”
