FORMER employee of Guyana Lands and Surveys Commission (GLSC), Roger Park, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry yesterday, charged with forgery, conspiracy and obtaining money upon a forged instrument. The defendant, of Lot 126 Duncan Street, Newtown, Georgetown, pleaded not guilty to the charges, one of which said, on September 30, 2010, with intent to defraud, he uttered, to Babulall Kundum, plan number 48555, purporting to show that it was issued by land surveyor Mohammed Shansul Azam.
Another charge said, between September 10 and 30, 2010, with intent to defraud, he conspired together with persons unknown to forge the plan, purporting to show that it was issued by Azam.
The third charge said, also on September 30, 2010, with intent to defraud, he obtained $70,000 from Kundum, upon or by virtue of a forged instrument, the plan purporting to show that it was signed by Azam, knowing that to be false.
Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, had no objection to it but requested that bail be of a substantial amount.
Park was ordered to post $125,000 surety until March 2.
