Sentence postponed on unlawful assault defendant

CLAYTON Alleyne (no address given) who pleaded guilty to an unlawful assault charge yesterday was put on bail by Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry. The defendant admitted assaulting Delon Parris, on January 6, to cause him actual bodily harm but claimed it was because the virtual complainant used abusive language and was disrespectful to his family.
Alleyne said the behaviour of Parris drove him into a fit of  passion and led to the assault.
The magistrate ordered a probation report on the case and postponed sentence to January 28.
Meanwhile, Alleyne must lodge $20,000 surety.
