President to meet Corbin on constitutional issues

…GDF promotions soon; national awards in February
PRESIDENT Bharrat Jagdeo is to meet Leader of the Opposition Robert Corbin today to discuss a number of issues related to the Constitution of Guyana, and the result of which should see forward movement on outstanding issues including those relating to the Public Service Commission.
The President made this announcement at a press briefing at the Office of the President yesterday, at which he addressed a number of issues of national importance.

“I am hoping to meet Corbin tomorrow afternoon at [16:00hrs] so some of the matters will be raised there…those that require discussions of a constitutional nature,” he said. It is believed that the talks on the Public Service Commission will pave the way for the promotion of members of the Guyana Police Force.
Further, in response to questions from media operatives, the President said the promotions in the Guyana Defence Force will be out soon, and added that sometimes this flows “a little bit late in January.”
He said too that national awards will be announced in February for the Republic anniversary.
