POINTE-A-PIERRE, Trinidad, (CMC) – Trinidad and Tobago ‘A’ upset their senior counterparts to reel off their second straight win in the Twenty20 Festival at Guaracara Park on Wednesday night. Chasing a paltry target of 110, T&T ‘A’ were powered by Tishan Maraj who hammered 35 and Rayad Emrit scored 28, to get home by two wickets with over four overs to spare.
Earlier, Emrit’s medium pace earned him three for 25 as T&T stumbled to 109 for eight off their allotted 20 overs.
Only Jason Mohammed with an unbeaten 31 showed any resistance as Adrian Barath (11), Lendl Simmons (6) and the stylish Darren Bravo (2) all failed.
Mohammed added 29 for the sixth wicket with out-of-favour West Indies wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin who hit 15.
West Indies all-rounder Dwayne Bravo, who will head off to Australia later this week to play in the T20 Big Bash there, fell early for two in T&T A’s chase but Maraj and Emrit added 40 for the fifth wicket that ensured their team the three points.
On Tuesday, the ‘A’ side upset regional T20 champions Guyana.
The series is being used by Guyana and T&T to prepare for next month’s Caribbean Twenty20 Championship.
