TOSHOA of the lower Pomeroon village, Wakapoa, Mr. Lloyd Perreira has announced that craft production will be expanded there in 2011. Also representing Region Two (Pomeroon/Supenaam) in Parliament, he said the Government, recently, concluded construction of a craft and resource centre in the village, which has an abundance of raw materials.

Perreira said he wants villagers to be fully involved in craft work, so as to create employment for themselves and families.
He said the enterprise can transform Wakapoa into a hive of activities and open new areas for generating income.
Perreira also said villagers, in the spirit of cooperation, recently dug three trenches by self-help, to provide children who paddle canoes, with easy access to school.
He explained that the trenches, which connect to the savannah, will also facilitate sick persons travelling to health centres. (Rajendra Prabhulall)
