… donates $175 000 to Macouba Mandir.
SOFTBALL fans turned up in their numbers last Sunday to witness three softball matches at Heido Park at Pine Ground up in the Mahaicony River. This is the first time that a women’s match was played at this venue. The home team Mahaicony Females were easily defeated by Trophy Angels by 10 wickets. Mahaicony Females batted first and were restricted to 57 all out.
Shridevi top-scored with 24. Bowling for Trophy Stall, Jenile Hero took 3 wickets for 4 runs. Trophy Stall Angels wiped out the total in 5.3 overs with Renita Awad 28 not out and Keisha Lall 24 not out.
Floodlights A defeated Heido Squad by 17 runs. Toolsie Sahadeo hit an entertaining 112 in a total of 192 for 9 off 20 overs. Heido Squad were restricted to 175 all out due to good bowling from Rakesh Goverdan, Petama Maharaj, Rahaman Khan, and Ramchand Ragbir who took 2 wickets each. Derick Singh made 44 for the home team.
In the third game, Floodlights B were restricted to 144 for 8 off 20 overs. Richard Persaud 47, and Rajin Mohamed 27 were the top scorers. Vijay Singh bowled brilliantly taking 6 wickets for 14 runs for Mahaicony Combine.
Dharam Persaud and Mike Singh then destroyed Mahaicony Combine taking four wickets each and  the home team eventually made 112 all out. These matches were sponsored by Royal Woodworking, P&P Insurance, Narine Trading and Jai Achar. Gifts were shared to the crowd by Mike’s Pharmacy, Rohan Auto Spares, and Trophy Stall.
The Guyana Floodlights Softball Cricket Association (GFSCA) thanked Mr Indrachand Bhagwandin (Heido) for making all the arrangements at his ground and admitted him as a member of the GFSCA.
The GFSCA also donated $175 000 in cash to the Macouba Mandir.
