LARCENY from the person defendant Delon King (no address given) was on Wednesday remanded to prison by Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge, which stated that, on October 13, he stole a gold band, valued $102,000, from Mahendra Rampersaud.
Police Sergeant Lionel Harvey, prosecuting, said the virtual complainant was walking on his way home when the jewel, his chain, was snatched.
The Prosecutor offered no objection to bail and attorney-at-law Mr. Patrice Henry requested that reasonable surety be set, submitting that King is not a flight risk.
However, the magistrate told the lawyer she refused pre-trial freedom based on the strength of the case for the Prosecution, the seriousness of the offence and the likelihood that the defendant will commit other crimes if he secured the grant.
King has to make his next court appearance on November 19.
