CMRSC drivers visit Kaieteur – awed by its majestic beauty

A group of drivers from the Caribbean Motor Racing Sports Club, in Guyana for the just concluded Caribbean racing Championships, got an opportunity to visit Kaieteur on Monday, compliments of the Ministry of Tourism, Industry and Commerce.
Tourism Minister Manniram Prashad, on hand at Ogle to see the drivers off to the falls, took the opportunity to apprise them on some of the other tourism attractions that Guyana has to offer, including the Iwokrama Canopy walkway. He extended a special invitation to them come in April for the Safari, and shared with them plans to market Guyana as an alternative tourism destination.
Guyanese Kevin Jeffery, whose exploits on the track at South Dakota earned Guyana the overall title, had not been to Kaieteur in 15 years, he said, adding that he was still in awe of its majestic beauty. He felt that tours of this nature can give Guyana a tremendous boost to its tourism marketing efforts, declaring that Kaieteur is its own attraction.
Jamaican David Summerbell Jr., the Caribbean Circuit Racing Champion 2010, dubbed the falls ‘breathtakingly beautiful’, second only to the famous Guyanese hospitality, always on display whenever he visits. He said too that progress is evident, adding that the country ‘grows on you after a while’.

This too was the sentiment of Barbadian Roger Meyers who was ‘incredibly impressed’ with the world’s highest single drop water fall. Meyers said that the sight was ‘beyond expectation’ and noted that there was nothing quite like it in his native Barbados or the rest of the Caribbean.
