RENRICK Alexander, who allegedly stabbed his long-time friend at a shop in John Street, Georgetown, yesterday appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry charged with murder. Particulars of the capital offence, to which Alexander was not required to plead, said on November 3, he murdered Carl Thomas.
Police Sergeant Alexis David, prosecuting, said an argument between the accused and deceased escalated resulting in the fatal incident.
She said the two had been friends for years and that Thomas died while receiving treatment at the Georgetown Public Hospital.
According to David, the prosecution, so far, has two witnesses in the matter which, she said, has to be further investigated.
Alexander was remanded to prison and will return to court on December 13.
Police reported that the deceased, 55, of John Street, in Georgetown, was stabbed about 18:40 hrs on November 3 last.
According to the report, Thomas and Alexander were involved in an argument over some clothes during which he was stabbed in his abdomen.
Reports are that the accused and deceased were in a shop they usually frequented, when a quarrel broke out over some clothes.
