EWART Skeete (no address given) was also refused bail, by Magistrate Fazil Azeez yesterday, on two robbery under arms charges. One of the allegations against the remanded prisoner said, on November 1, being armed with a gun, he robbed Marvin Persaud of a sliver band valued $39,000, two gold rings worth $22,000 and other belongings with a total value of $81,000.
The other accusation is that the same day, also at gunpoint, he robbed Vikram Singh of a $400,000 gold chain and one cellular phone worth $25,000.
The accused claimed that, during the four days he spent in custody, he was beaten by the Police, who had arrested him while he was walking on a street.
Skeete, who maintained that he knows nothing about the offences, will make his next appearance on November 10.
