New information in connection with Neesa’s death surfaces

A NEW piece of information has come to light in connection with the gruesome murder of sixteen-year-old Neesa Gopaul whose body was laid to rest last Wednesday.

A reliable source told the Guyana Chronicle that Neesa’s mother,  Bibi Shareema Gopaul contacted a tax consultant (name given) in Leonora, West Coast Demerara just prior to her daughter’s death.

The source, when asked what could have been the connection with the meeting with the consultant and Neesa’s murder, explained that the preparatory documentation work was probably being done to have the estate which was in the name of Neesa transferred to the mother.

It has been learnt that Neesa’s father, prior to his death, transferred his estate to her and her younger sister.

The body of Neesa Lalita Gopaul was found in a suitcase in the Madewini Creek in the vicinity of Emerald Tower Resort on Saturday October 2, 2010, at about 14:00 hrs and at the time was believed to be headless.

However, after a post mortem examination, it was revealed that the body was not headless and was instead clobbered beyond recognition.

Dumbbells similar to those found in a gym owned by her stepfather, Jarvis Small, were found tied to the suitcase in which the body was found.

As news of the gruesome murder of the teen circulated, many were accused of failing the teen who was suffering for sometime.

Neesa’s stepfather and her mother, both of whom were charged for murdering her at Madewini, appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry last Friday and were remanded to prison after the joint murder charge was read to them.
In the dock,  both accused stood silently and emotionless when the charge was read stating that between September 24 and October 2, at Madewini, they murdered Nessa Gopaul. They were not required to enter a plea.
