THE Office of the President is in the process of recruiting qualified persons to be trainers in the One Laptop per Family (OLPF) initiative, an ICT programme aimed at bringing computer knowledge to both children and adults to enhance learning and create income earning opportunities. The programme will ensure that families get the resources and training for basic computer skills that are essential for job preparedness in the modern economy.
“By pairing earned laptops, ICT trainers and ICT infrastructure OLPF is designed as an affordable, commonsense approach to training and graduating family members for the information technology age and economy,” the advertisement said.
The OLPF training will include classroom training of basic ICT skills, training on the application of skills to specific jobs and personalised training to ensure that every individual is able to benefit from OLPF. It said that qualified individuals will be offered no-cost training through a specialised programme to prepare them as certified ICT trainers to the lead OLPF initiative. The programme will work to place trainers near their homes and all trainers joining the OLPF team will be provided with a netbook computer.
The participants to the trainers programme will be required to commit one year of service in exchange for training and netbook. Persons have until October 29 to submit their CV and cover letter including current address to trainerjobs@olpf.org.
