TWO accused drug traffickers were remanded to prison yesterday when they appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry.
One of them, hairdresser Coretta Roberts, 32, of Lot 190 Second Street, Grove, is alleged to have, on September 24, had 3.4 grammes of cocaine in her possession for the purpose.
Defence Counsel Peter Hugh claimed someone else was in the house and that the drug the substance was not found in the possession of Roberts.
But Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU) Prosecutor Oswald Massiah maintained that the discovery was made at the woman’s residence and her case was transferred to Providence Court for October 1.
The allegation against the other defendant, Andre Archer, 47, of Lot 343 Diamond Housing Scheme, also on East Bank Demerara, is that, on September 24, too, at Lot 190 Second Street, Grove, as well, he had 36 grammes of cocaine.
His lawyer, Mr. Adrian Thompson claimed Archer does not live on the premises where the narcotic was found but had been visiting.
However, Massiah said it is believed that Archer was not only in possession but a supplier of the narcotic which was taken from in his undergarment.
That case was also transferred to Providence Court for October 1.
