DENISE Hilliman (no address given) was yesterday remanded to prison on charges of simple larceny and unlawful wounding.
Before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry, the defendant was also charged with having, last March 12, stolen a shoulder bag valued $1,500, a gold chain worth $210,000 and other property with a total value of $275,500, belonging to Vidya Basdeo.
The other charge said, on March 16, Hilliman unlawfully and maliciously wounded Sophia Shepherd.
After pleading not guilty to both, the defendant told the Court that the Police are framing her because she exposed certain things.
She said the Police have something against her and fabricated the allegations.
Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, objected to bail for her and informed the Court that the defendant is a known character, who has similar cases pending in other Courts.
The Prosecutor said, on March 12, Basdeo was at Royal Castle restaurant in the City Mall when the defendant took her bag and was caught on the surveillance camera at the fast food outlet.
The Prosecutor said, on March 16, Hilliman went into ACME Photo Studio, also in Regent Street, Georgetown, where the security guard recognised her as a known shoplifter and Shepherd asked her to leave the business place but she wounded the other woman with a knife.
Hilliman has to be back in Court on September 28.
