– Prosecutor
ISAAC Dilmohamed, 22, was refused bail yesterday on an illegal possession of ammunition charge.
The defendant (no address given) appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry and pleaded not guilty, denying that, on September 13, at Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), he had one 7.62 round without a licence. Attorney-at-law Mr. Mohammed Zafar, who represented Dilmohamed said he was an outgoing passenger who had an artificial bullet on a key chain.
However, Police Inspector Stephen Telford, prosecuting, who successfully objected to the grant of pre-trial freedom for the defendant, said ballistic tests verified that the bullet was genuine.
The Prosecutor said it was likely Dilmohamed would flee the jurisdiction and the remanded prisoner was told his case has been transferred to another Court for October 19.
