. . . Foreign nationals arrested in nightclub raid
JAMAICA OBDERVER – Detectives attached to the Organised Crime Investigation Division (OCID), yesterday morning cracked what is believed to be a major human trafficking ring operating in Jamaica. Thirteen persons including a man and a woman, who OCID investigators believe were masterminds of the human trafficking ring, were taken into custody along with nationals from Panama, the Dominican Republic, Guyana and Italy.
The operation started shortly after midnight when the OCID team, assisted by their colleagues from the Mobile Reserve and Flying Squad, raided a nightclub and house located in St Andrew.
Detectives from OCID have also identified a number of locals who they want to question in connection with the human trafficking ring.
Head of OCID Superintendent Fitz Bailey, said he would be asking the Kingston and St Andrew Corporation and the Fire Department to examine the premises on which the nightclub is located for possible breaches of safety regulations.
