DEFENDING Champions Airstrip, led by double strikes from Gordon Leitch and John ‘Buju’ Joseph, trounced Campbelltown while Steve Brewley and Dellon Wire also hit doubles as R H Lions drubbed Masters when action in the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport 2010 Mahdia Inter-block competition kicked off last Friday night.
Leitch struck in the 40th and 70th minutes, while Joseph found the back of the net in the 55th and 60th and, along with Lennox Matherson’s 25th minute strike, guided Airstrip to a 5-1 victory over Campbelltown whose lone goal came off the boot of Mervin Henry in the 47th minute.
In the second match of the double-header feature, R H Lions, who are being sponsored by the tournament’s sponsor Ryan Hinds, humiliated the Masters with a comfortable 5-0 victory.
Brewley struck in the 14th and 10th minutes while Wire got his in the 52nd and 63rd minutes of play and with Devon Mendonca finding the back of the net in the 59th minute, ensured Lions roared heavily against the Masters on their way to a date with Airstrip in the final which was played last night at the Mahdia ground.
