Housewife’s body found by Anna Regina Public Road

THE early morning quiet was disturbed yesterday when the body of 58-year-old Mrs. Jasmin Persaud was discovered just off the side of the public road in Anna Catherina, West Coast Demerara.
Public spirited citizens, upon discovering the corpse, quickly alerted the authorities who responded soon after and took the body away.
The woman’s brother, Kenneth Dama, told the Guyana Chronicle that his sister had suffered from epilepsy since her youth and has been hospitalized several times.
While relatives assumed Persaud suffered a seizure, a post mortem is yet to confirm this.
Dama noted too that the mother of seven had had an attack Sunday and since then she had been very quiet.
Dama added that Persaud left the house early yesterday morning and from the items recovered near to her body, including a shopping bag, it is assumed that she was headed to a nearby grocery when she collapsed.
Persaud is a housewife and did not work because of her illness.

Her brother added that she was taking two sets of medication, including Valium, but he was unsure as to how often she took them.
When the Guyana Chronicle visited Persaud’s home, her children were in a state of shock and disbelief.
“I still can’t believe that this happen,” one of her daughters said.
