Grand Coastal hosts evening of curry

SURROUNDED by the mouthwatering aromas of a variety of curries, the Grand Coastal Hotel launched its ‘Wednesday Night Curry’ event last Wednesday evening, at La Ressouvenir, East Coast Demerara.
Addressing those gathered , Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr. Mokesh Daby revealed that the purpose of the event is to raise the bar for standards in the entertainment arena.
“Guyana is a growing tourism destination and we are ideally positioned to match the needs of customers both local and international.” Mr. Daby said. He revealed that the idea of hosting a ‘Curry Night’ resulted from requests made by international visitors who were interested in experiencing and learning about Guyana’s culture and food.
Daby pointed out that the management of the Hotel identified Curry as playing a major part in promoting local flavours in the country.
“Grand Coastal is the Ideal venue to offer authentic curries to Guyanese as well as our international guests an international atmosphere,” he said.
In addition, the CEO highlighted that the introduction of the event was also in response to the changing society, where more persons are venturing out in search of a comfortable dining experience away from home.
He said, “They can now come to Grand Coastal and get that experience in a wholesome environment.”
He also emphasized that as the sector leader in the Boutique Hotel Industry in Guyana, the Grand Coastal Hotel is seeking innovative ways to offer unique products through their food and beverage services.

In addition to the introduction of the new event, the hotel already offers a Friday ‘lunch special’ to workers in the area with the menu specifically designed at a cost of $1000, a Sunday brunch as well as a Grill Night.
“We do not intend to intend to compromise the standard of our service for the price that is offered,” Daby stressed.
At the Wednesday ‘Curry Night’ there will be a variety of curries available, buffet style, including Chicken, Fish and Beef as well as dishes that cater to vegetarians, Channa and Potato, Pumpkin, Dhal with additional surprise dishes.
All dishes will be available for a cost of $2,000 + vat, per person from Wednesday.
“This is a very affordable price for five choices of curries not only for guests but for families to come and enjoy in a wholesome environment,” Mr. Daby added.
Encouraging persons to come and experience an event with a difference, Daby said, “Georgetown  alone is not Guyana, Leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind ,” adding , “ come and enjoy the scenery and food in a safe and secure environment.”
After the official ceremony was over, guests were invited to sample the delicious curries that will be offered at the Grand Coastal Hotel’s ‘Wednesday Night Curry’ event.
