Statement from the Ministry of Home Affairs

It has come to the attention of the Minister of Home  Affairs that a document purporting to be  “Remarks by the Hon. Clement J. Rohee, M.P., Minister of Home Affairs at the Second Training Course for Customs officers on Narcotic Drugs, Psychotropic Substances, Precursor Chemicals – Identification and Control – Customs House, August 11, 2010” was released to the Media today, August 12, 2010. The Minister of Home Affairs wishes to disassociate himself from the contents of the said document, since as far as the Minister is concerned he never made those “remarks” while addressing the Opening Session of the Customs Officers’ Training Course.

A careful review of the recording  of the Minister’s presentation would reveal that the Minister spoke ad lib and never  used language reflected in the document purporting to be his “remarks” released to the Media.

Investigations are currently underway to ascertain from where the document was released and who authorized its release.
