SO a well known daily columnist in the Kaieteur News has issued a call to society to “back Mr. Badal “in his exchange with President Jagdeo, over the Marriott Hotel issue. Now, this columnist is well known to be the contentious and quarrelsome kind. In fact, there is ever hardly a day that he is not firing his usual salvoes at someone for something or the other. Disagree with his particular view, and he rants and raves! How unfortunate for an academic! Of course, that is his democratic right. Except that recently, he has copped a libel suit for himself and editor, compliments of His Excellency President, Bharrat Jagdeo.
We are all aware of the Badal story thus far; but, he is definitely a lone voice crying in the wilderness. For not even his private sector buddies are supportive on his behalf. And it is not that they are afraid to voice publicly, as Mr. Kissoon likes to contend.
In the past, there have been captains of industry who have crossed swords with the administration on issues. Of course, the government responded. Such is their right. But there was no post discrimination.
This seems to be a form of incitement coming from this columnist. Why attempt to subtly influence the public onto the Pegasus chairman’s contentious platform? Let society decide for themselves. They do not need his advice, since they are well informed on the points of the day. As a matter of fact, many are busy making use of the many opportunities made possible by the PPP/C administration.
They, unfortunately, are not going to listen to your call, Freddie.
