SOME of the country’s top cyclists will all converge on Linden on Sunday August 8, for the inaugural Fernleaf Day which is being hosted by the Linden Bauxite Flyers Cycle Club. The day’s activity will begin at 10:00 h with a race from Land of Canaan and end in Linden then the action will continue around the Amelia’s Ward Circuit.
According to Samuel Arjoon, Sales Manager at Geddes Grant, the company responsible for the distribution of the product in Guyana, “this is one way of giving back to the consumers and we hope it’s the start of something new”.
President of the club Brian McRae expressed his delight at having Geddes Grant under their Fernleaf brand on board for the event that will also feature BMX (6-9, 9-12) and female races.
An open race is also planned but as it relates to the number of laps, McRae said, “Well, that will depend on how strenuous the ride to Linden will be for the cyclist, so we’ll make that up on the day.”
McRae added that $130 000 in cash and prizes will be up for grabs.
