TORGINOL Paints Inc., a member of the Continental Group of Companies celebrated its 50th anniversary with a cocktail reception held recently at the Pegasus.
A review of the history of Torginol Paints Inc. was presented by Mr. Mohamed Shaeed Ally, former Company Secretary of Continental Group of Companies and closing remarks was presented by Mr. Dindial Shaw a former employee who shared his experiences working with the late Mr. S.K. Puri. Entertainment was provided by the students of Dharmic Kendra who performed two dances choreographed by Dr. Vindhya Vasini Persaud.
Attending the reception were the Hon. Prime Minister Mr. Samuel Hinds, Hon. Clement Rohee, Minister of Home Affairs, Hon. Manzoor Nadir, Minister of Labour, Hon. Manniram Prashad, a wide cross-section of the Business Community, Overseas Business Associates, Torginol Dealers country-wide, friends and Members of staff.
The Torginol Paints Plant was officially opened in 1960 by the then Hon. Minister of Trade, Mr. Joycelyn Hubbard. The General Manager of Torginol(Guyana)Ltd., as it was known at that time, was the late Mr. Lewis Gansham Singh, who was also responsible for Research and Development.
The eventual growth of the Company is now a success story, with Torginol Paints Inc., the only locally Manufacturing Paint Company in Guyana, enjoying a market share of some seventy-five percent. The company also produces a range of other items including wood stains, rubberized finishes, putty and several other special applications. Torginol has earned the title ‘The Paint People Prefer’.
Torginol said it will continue celebrations with its ongoing country-wide promotion in which it will be giving back millions of dollars in prizes to their loyal customers. Prizes will include ATVs, motor-cycles and flat screen television sets. The drawing for this promotion is slated for August 31st, 2010.
