THE Sophia guard, who was battered to death at Mercy Wings Vocational Centre, in South Sophia, Greater Georgetown, died from shock and haemorrhage due to perforation of his lungs. Government pathologist Dr. Nehaul Singh confirmed it yesterday after he performed the post mortem examination on the body of Carl Nelson Bollers.
The corpse of the victim was found on Sunday, July 25 but investigating Police have not yet made any arrest.
Bollers was killed by a gang whose members broke into Mercy Wings canteen and stole some confectionery and six gallons of paint.
Bollers, 58, of Lot 234 Section ‘A’, Field Eight, South Sophia, suffered several stab wounds.
He is the second security guard to have been murdered at his workplace this month. The other is Ronald Cato, 44, of Lot 58, Block 12, Non Pareil, who was killed on July 14, at a Section ‘C’, Enterprise construction site, also on East Coast Demerara.
Five suspects were held for that crime but all were later released.
The men who killed Cato took away four heavy duty batteries from machines he was guarding at the place where he had only secured employment a week before.
