ALTHOUGH over the recent years, the Suddie Public Hospital has undergone some remarkable and positive changes in its infrastructure, the poor quality of works by the contractors of the buildings there remains an underlying issue which needs to be addressed urgently. I find little joy in penning this letter on this occasion, however, the pain I feel about this hospital compels me to communicate to the higher authorities through your letter column in the hope that someone will respond and take positive action to correct them.
Those of us who happen to be patients in wheelchairs will recall that most of the waiting rooms are too small, the paint is fading, the ply boards in the roof is falling off and no ramps for the disabled. Where are our Architects and our planners? Where are our visionary leaders who claim to want a better hospital? However, one major problem which remains unresolved is the wheelchair patients cannot gain access inside the room and the test has to be done outside in the waiting room. On my second visit today Monday July 12, 2010 I have seen a vast improvement in service.
Better facilities for wheelchair patients needed at Suddie Hospital
