It’s like Ebay for Guyana, says webmaster Girendra Persaud, with the whole idea being to buy web real-estate or space that will belong to the user forever.
“When someone pays $5,000, we put them on the internet, plus we advertise them for free for four Sundays in the Guyana Chronicle,” said Persaud.
He said all those who hear of the service are amazed at the innovation and ask if the $5,000 is Guyana dollars or US currency.
“We are offering this as a service to the Guyanese people…it is a new concept. We are just bringing buyers and sellers together,” he said, adding that no financial transaction is done on the website.
Persaud explained that each space bought is given a specific number “like a lot number” which caters for people selling, renting or advertising online.
“When you sign up with us, each post you make gets a unique number. This number you can then tell a friend, or advertise in the papers or elsewhere on the internet. When a visitor comes to GxSellit.com he or she simply enters the number to access full details of the item, including pictures and your full contact information.”
The site promises to provide the fastest means “by which to get your items online,” and with the unique numbering system, persons get a number for every item they post with the site, Persaud said. “This enables you to make quick reference to your post.”
“We provide you with direct access to the people who are selling, renting or promoting stuff. You get a chance to search or browse our smart database for items that are sold, rented or promoted,” he said of the site.
“We promote your sale, rental or post by using the print power of the local newspapers,” he said, adding that every post is promoted in “our very own GxSellit classified ad section in the newspapers.”
