SCOTLAND will meet Ireland in the ICC World Cricket League Division One final after securing a closely-fought two-wicket win over Afghanistan in Rotterdam. Victory for either side would have sealed their place in today’s decider and Scotland grabbed the initiative when they bowled out their Asian rivals for just 141.
Scotland then suffered a late-order collapse, after opener Fraser Watts had set them on course with a patient 46, before they snuck home by two wickets with 6.1 overs to spare.
Holland lost their last six wickets for six runs as Ireland won their final World Cricket League group game by 39 runs in Amstelveen.
Ireland, who had already qualified for the final, stuttered to 177 all out and seemed to be set for defeat with Holland cruising on 132 for four.
But the hosts collapsed, with teenagers George Dockrell (four for 35) and Paul Stirling (four for 11) taking centre stage to ensure the Irish would go into the final on the back of a win.
