Court ruling not sending the right signal

I read with surprise the court’s ruling yesterday in the pink suitcase case. It is public knowledge that a whole suitcase of cocaine cannot leave the Cheddi Jagan Airport unless persons from the different agencies at the Airport were all cooperating together. One single person alone could not have done it by himself. He had to have had the help of others.
This ruling is an indication that the courts are not interested in curbing the cocaine trade here in Guyana. The ruling is a signal to the cocaine traders that they have the protection of the courts. In this regard the US government should take action and reconsider all assistance to Guyana relating to the cocaine business as all efforts will be in vain once the courts are on the side of the cocaine traders.
