Corpse on Seawall identified

The woman, who had her throat slit and whose body was found on the Seawall in Georgetown over the weekend has been identified as Claudine Inniss, 43, of Hadfield Street, Georgetown.
The woman’s mother, Claudette Benthan, 60, of Diamond, East Bank Demerara, told the Guyana Chronicle yesterday that they only found out that Inniss was missing yesterday.
She noted that a relative informed her that police were appealing for people to identify a corpse, which was found Saturday on the Seawall, in the vicinity of Russian Embassy and Celina Resort.
The distraught woman said her sister, who resides in the city, saw Inniss on Friday night in the company of a man and she spoke to her briefly, but noted that they were arguing.
She added that her daughter was asking the man for ‘something’ he apparently had that belonged to her, and they had an exchange of words.
Inniss’ brother also spotted her that evening with the same man, who is known to him, and after she went missing the same man came to him asking if he had seen her.
At that time they did not know that Inniss was missing since she lives alone in an apartment in Hadfield Street.
