This Timehri minibus (route 42) ended up in the canal in front of Banks DIH, Thirst Park, Georgetown while on its way to the Georgetown minibus park, as the driver was negotiating the turn yesterday morning. Lavern Langford, a passenger who was seated next to the driver, told the Guyana Chronicle that as she realised the vehicle was heading increasingly to the corner of the canal, she snatched the wheel and tried to pull it over. She said had she not done so, the vehicle would have ended up in the middle of the canal, which is deeper than the other sections, and lives could have been lost. One child received a fractured hand and the windscreen was shattered. (Adrian Narine photo)
