Mr. Simon Bond has been appointed by the UK’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office as Acting High Commissioner in Guyana for the next 12 months.
This follows Fraser Wheeler leaving the country last Saturday on completion of his posting as High Commissioner to Guyana.
Bond was previously Deputy High Commissioner in Guyana since July 2008. His previous overseas postings were as a political officer in Trinidad and Tobago, as a political and press officer in Uganda, and as Deputy Head of Mission in Senegal. Before arriving in Guyana, he worked at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in London responsible for policy on Sri Lanka and Bangladesh, and subsequently on African conflict and peacekeeping issues.
Mr. Bond is married with two children.
