Postal workers in training workshop

Senior and chief postmasters, postmasters and postal and telegraph clerks of The Guyana Post Office Corporation are presently involved in a training programme at the Post Office Training School, Lamaha and Carmichael Streets, Georgetown.
The programme began on last Tuesday, and is geared to help the corporation realize its aim of improving the quality of its services.

The Board of Directors has deemed it a priority to have training done at all levels of the Corporation during this year. In keeping with this, approximately 60 persons have been engaged in training that covers a wide range of topics, including mail, parcel and counter operations, management functions, behaviour and attitude, customer relations and laws rules and regulations governing the postal industry. Other areas of administration have been included in the training programme which is facilitated by Mr. Stanton Halley, former Postmaster General of the Corporation.
On June 16 and 17, senior management officials at the Corporation were engaged in training held by the La Red Business Organisations. La Red is a faith-based but non-denominational organisation that offers training in the area of character building and enhancement. This initiative was sponsored by the Office of the Prime Minister with the intent of improving internal relations at the Corporation.
The present training programme is expected to conclude early July. Its conclusion will involve an evaluation and brief closing exercise hosted by the Postmaster General.
