Rice farmer in narrow escape after ploughing accident

In Essequibo…
GOBERDAN Polasraj, a tractor driver, of Westbury, had a narrow escape on Tuesday while ploughing his rice field at Better Success, another part of Essequibo Coast.
He told the Guyana Chronicle he was driving his 185 Massey Ferguson tractor near a bank with several large trees when one of the rear iron cage wheels became entangled with a large overhanging limb.

Polasraj said he was looking at the other limbs above to ensure that the exhaust pipe on the tractor did not get hooked in the branches of the trees when, suddenly, one cage wheel, while rotating, pulled down a huge limb and pinned him in the driver’s seat.
He said he was rendered helpless as the limb pressed his shoulder, hands and stomach, locking in the sitting position while the tractor continued to move.
Polasraj said he could not call out to his brother, Badrinauth and his children, who were picking mangoes a short distance away because his breath seemed to left his body.
He said the force of the limb raised the front of the tractor to turn it over with him in the seat but, by some strange hand and divine intervention, he was able to lift one foot that was almost lifeless and press the clutch.
The tractor front that was already lifted in the air fell back to the ground and the engine stopped.
Polasraj said he called for his brother who rushed to help him and cut the limb to free him.
The rescued man, who is a member of the Voice of Faith Miracle Ministries Church, said he, immediately, went down on his knees and praised God, thanking the Almighty for saving his life.
He said he is convinced it was the Lord Jesus Christ who went to his rescue.
A religious crusade is currently in progress in Polasraj’s Westbury yard.
