At Berbice Assizes…
THE jurors were sworn in yesterday, for the trial starting today, of Danny Busjit, who is indicted, at the Berbice Assizes, for the unlawful killing of American citizen Kalidas Surjnarine, 74.
The nude and headless body of the victim was found in his yard at Mibicuri, Black Bush Polder on November 26, 2004.
Busjit, 29, arraigned before Justice Brassington Reynolds, is being represented by Defence Counsel Mursulene Bacchus and Kim Kyte-John.
State Prosecutor Dionne Mc Cammon requested that the indictment against the mother of the accused, Bhanmattie Singh, for being an accessory after the fact of murder, be amended.
But the proceedings were adjourned to allow Bacchus to attend to an urgent, private matter in another jurisdiction.
